Home of the modeling savants....Celebrating forty years of modeling fun, education, and history in 2025!

Chuck Gaunt amazed us with a beautiful 1/60 Skipjack oyster boat by Nautilus Kits.  Used for dredging oysters on the Chesapeake Bay.  Skipjacks are a one mast two sail flat bottom boat.  They range from 25-50’ long.  I think Chuck said there are only 7 left and some or all were motorized starting in 2024.  Fantastic work, Chuck!!

Mr. Seekman brought in two modern era jets.  Both are 1/48 and the first is the Hasegawa F-16B and painted with Hataka Orange Line lacquer.  He used True Details ejection seats Quinta Studio 3D printed interior, Caracal Decals, Quickboost tailplanes, and weathered with Ammo by Mig washes and pastels.  It was painted in this color when it competed, and lost, to the A-10.  He’s just way too good!

Let’s start with our illustrious President!  We will start with his 1/24 AMT ’49 Dirt Track Stocker built mostly stock.  He rebuilt the interior, added a roll cage, front & rear bumpers, and brakes on wheels.  It was painted with  Tamiya  Coral Blue.  Decals from the old decal box.  Seeet!

Here is a shot of Mark Jahsan’s USS Ward that he brought in last time.  Some of the structures on top have gazillion scratchbuilt parts.  Hate to break the news to you Mark, but this cannot be entered in the small category in next year’s Ridout!  😉

This is the SMER/OEZ Su-17M3 Fitter painted with Ammo by Mig acrylic.  He used Eduard PE interior, True Decals ejection seat, Quickboost chaff dispenser, kit decals, and weathered with Ammo by Mig washes and pastels.  Doug uses Alclad Clear Flat for that beautiful flat finish.  It is beautiful

TNext is his 1/24 dirt track sprint car which started out as Monogram Sammy Swindel Blue Max car.  He grooved the front tires, sanded some tread off the rear tires to give them the worn look, made the top wing adjustable and removable, added seat belts and spark plug wires and he made the mud from lightweight spackle and chalks.  He hand painted the numbers….jeez!  The paint was Krylon gloss black, Tamiya orange, and Testors metallic silver.  Decals were from his decal box.  This guy does great work!!!

That's it for July!  We will right back here in two weeks for the August S&T!
